Kungsleden: 7 stages and when to book

The classic week on Sweden’s most famous trail: Abisko to Nikkaluokta through wide arctic valleys, over the Tjäktja pass, and out beneath Kebnekaise. STF huts every stage, gentle gradients, midnight sun in high summer. The approachable end of true wilderness walking.

Book these first

Kebnekaise fjällstation is a full mountain station and takes normal advance bookings.

The simple STF huts along the way work differently from Alpine refuges: turning walkers away into the night is against their tradition, but a full hut can mean a mattress on the floor. Verify current STF booking policy before relying on it.

STF membership gives a discount at every hut on this route.

When to go

STF huts on this section are staffed from late June to mid-September. Exact dates vary by hut and year, check before you commit.
